Biblical Psychotherapy

Biblical Psychotherapy incorporates spiritual beliefs and religious practices with the therapeutic process. This approach allows for healing that involves the spiritual and the psychological in unison.

Ezer Counselling is non-denominational and not linked with any particular church system, so whether you are a person of faith or not, this can be an immensely powerful support in understanding the struggles and conflicts within.

Biblical Psychotherapy an Overview

We experience the world biologically, psychologically, sociologically, and spiritually. These four areas intertwine and overlap with each other to form who we are and how we are in life. Psychological, physiological, and social health are common conversations, however, spiritual health and its effect on the other three, is not. The book of Hebrews 4:12 says “For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (NKJV). This little excerpt from scripture involves our body, mind and spirit and reads like a mission statement for Biblical Psychotherapy as the Word of God not only effects the spirit but also the psychological and physical areas.

René Descartes, renowned philosopher, set about systematically doubting all beliefs so he could find those that were certain. He developed a central truth which was foundational to all his later understanding, this he called the cogito which was “I think, therefore I am.”

In the Bible, Proverbs 23:7, written many hundreds of years before, had already documented this in “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he (NKJV)”, explaining that not only does the ability to think prove existence, it directly effects it!
